No doubt!
Although not a trained musician, music has always been a significant presence in my life in various forms. From as far back as I can remember I don’t think I’ve ever gone through a day without hearing, whistling, singing or humming a song. While most people can probably say the same, I’ve spent an inordinate amount of time, for someone not in the music business, considering it, analyzing it, using it and, of course, enjoying it.
For anybody who knows me I am the go-to guy for any matters of music trivia; I met my wife by showing off on the dance floor and I banked some pocket ching in the ‘80s DJing in clubs and as a party/wedding MC. My listening taste is truly agnostic and I can appreciate anything from a swamp-groove by JJ Cale to a head-banging riff from Korn, from a thunderous suite like Edvard Grieg’s Hall of the Mountain King to the soft refrains of Brahm’s Lullaby etc. etc. etc. and everything over, under, around and in between. It is precisely why I have such a font of information about music trivia, why I can dance so well and why I was a DJ par excellence, albeit on a part-time basis.
Yea, yea, so what! Right? Right!
However, a couple of things have conspired to bring us together here in the ether. After fighting the good fight in the commerce jungles of the late 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and into the new millennium I have reached that boomer state of bliss called semi-retirement; and, the scary emergence of social networking devices like blogs that allow idiocy of all shapes, sizes and sentiments to take root in cyber-space have, unfortunately, given me enough free time to share my passion (lunacy?) on-line with anyone so inclined to pass this way.
Thus is born another useless music site/blog.
HA! Not so fast!
Useless, being the relative term that it is, may be precisely what some seek…So if it is the old-school charm of a rump-shaking, move-bustin’ DJ mix you seek , then, I just may be the way.
Discovering music in the digital age has been an eye/ear opening revelation for me and, having set aside turntables long ago, I have found a way to get engaged again.
Scouring the internet, courtesy of my new found idyll, I have discovered a world resplendent with a constant variety of reborn, remixed and mashed up versions of new and old classics – dance, rock and otherwise – that are begging to be mixed in the old-school tradition of matching harmonies and BPMs.
And here I give them to you – enjoy….hope you like.
